Katie Reider MAY 23, 1978 - JULY 14, 2008   Folk - Rock / Indie / Pop
For over 10 years Cincinnati-born Indie folk-rock singer/songwriter Katie Reider (pronounced RIDER) has been recognized by the local and national recording industry inspiring the heart of thousands with her personal lyrics, engaging voice and genuine personality.

Since her first release in 1998 she has won five Cincinnati area music awards, gaining national recognition when her songs were used on ABC, Lifetime and the WB series "Dawson's Creek." Although it was clear she had musical dexterity at a young age, her music career essentially began in a small coffee shop in her hometown. Since then, Reider and her band, The Katie Reider Band, released four albums, Wonder (1998), No Retakes (2001), I Am Ready (2002) and Simplicity (2004).

Just as she was reaching the peak of her music career Katie developed a rare Myofibroblastic Inflammation Tumor that ate into her face, left her blind in one eye, robbed her of her voice and ability to perform, before taking her life on July 14th 2008 at the age of 30.

In a day and age where independent musicians saturate the market in hopes of being discovered, thousands of fans will confess that Katie Reider had that "star quality". You couldn’t help but be drawn into her world, whether it was at a live performance or through the speakers of your stereo. Katie’s genuine talent, raw wit and openness will continue to live on and inspire for many years to come.
